SSB Away and Beastly Books invite you to meet artist/activist Elijah McKinnon and view shorts from the Brave Futures Showcase. Brave Futures is an intersectional competition that challenges filmmakers of all levels to create an entire short film in 48 hours using one intersectional theme, one prop and one action. Presented by artist and Executive Director Elijah McKinnon of OTV | Open Television, a Chicago-based online platform, the featured films were developed during the Brave Futures Film Race in Berlin, Germany; Johannesburg, South Africa; Oakland, California; Brooklyn, New York; and Atlanta, Georgia. Elijah will be available to speak more about the process, values, and imagination that went into the Race; how to produce high quality intersectional content on low budgets; how to leverage the local community to build equity in the arts; and how to expand your reach while staying true to your focus and intentions. Brave Futures Film Race is a program of OTV | Open Television, a platform for intersectional television, with artists and their creative visions at the center.
