Artists have always been in the forefront of social and cultural innovation—and active instigators of change. SSB is a hub for resources to incubate, germinate, and present new projects. Consulting on strategies to support the artist’s ultimate vision for their work, SSB’s supple approach is meant to bolster the creative process. SSB Away residencies and a network of sites, environments, partners, and virtual platforms encourage artists to look inside and beyond conventional choices in production, outcomes, and audiences.
SSB presents culminating productions of new performances, works in progress, and intimate, focused interludes and salons that foster dialogue about the intersection of art and social practice, and the artist’s role as a catalyst for evolution: internal, societal and political. SSB broadens the audience for artists’ work through promotion that is intrinsically aligned with artists’ values.
