GIVING TUESDAY

Giving Tuesday at SSB

IT’S NOT ABOUT MONEY

We understand that this is not a time to go “back to normal.” Rather, it is a time to raise up cultural knowingness and strengths… This is our collective moment to bring into reality the transformations that can redefine our existence as a more humane, caring, interdependent, and much more simplified presence on our Earth Mother.

—Dr. Corrine Sánchez, Director, Tewa Women United

These times represent an unprecedented opportunity to connect and communicate across cultural and geographical lines. SSB invites you to join us in supporting three organizations in New Mexico that are breaking new ground and performing outstanding community service. The work of these organizations fosters mutual respect and understanding, creativity, and visions of future horizons that go out into the world to inspire all of us.

Northern Youth Project

Northern Youth Project (NYP) was founded by teens as a platform to develop skills that foster health, academic performance, and personal investment in their communities and the environment. NYP works to support the outcomes and opportunities for rural Northern New Mexico youth through hands-on art, agriculture, community service, and leadership projects that honor the past and look to the future. NYP serves young people ages 12 to 21, providing free programs and activities year-round. DONATE

Tewa Women United

Located in the ancestral Tewa homelands of Northern New Mexico, Tewa Women United is a multicultural and multiracial organization founded and led by Native women. Tewa Women United envisions movement(s) rooted in P’in Haa (Breath of Heart/Life) and P’in Nall (Touching Heart and Spirit) that nurture and celebrate the collective power of beloved families, communities, and Nung Ochuu Quiyo (Earth Mother). Programs include Environmental Health and Justice; Indigenous Women’s Health and Reproductive Justice; and Women’s Leadership and Economic Freedom. DONATE

NewMexicoWomen.org

NewMexicoWomen.Org (NMW.O) is the only fund of its kind in New Mexico that works to advance opportunities for women and girls statewide so they can lead self-sufficient, healthy, and empowered lives. NMW.O pursues its mission via a 3-pronged strategy to educate through research and communications to bring public attention to the issues affecting women and girls with an eye towards influencing policy and philanthropy; lead by facilitating alliances among nonprofits, funders, and other sectors in order to concentrate resources and foster collaboration; and to leverage philanthropic investments in programs serving women and girls of color and those in rural, low-income communities statewide through our donor education and strategic grant-making efforts. DONATE

#SSB supports bold, groundbreaking individual artists and programs, and grassroots community organizations. From direct grants and artist residencies to intimate salons and full-scale performances, SSB is guided by a passionate belief that supporting the needs of visionary creators yields profound encounters and meaningful social change. Our unique approach based on collaboration and partnerships to incubate and present artists’ work means that a little goes a long way. DONATE

We have many mottos: One of them is “it’s not about money,” and by that we mean that we do not quantify creative work in that way. We are asking you to open your hearts and contribute to these vital organizations. Because it’s not about the money, it’s about the gift—and the generosity of spirit that will help insure our collective future.

Lead with Love,
Susan Martin, Executive Director
